Howard Teibel • President

Howard Teibel is the founder and president of Teibel Education, a national consulting firm that partners with nonprofit and educational institutions to navigate change, strengthen leadership capacity, and build high-functioning teams capable of executing against their mission.

At the core of Howard’s work is a practical philosophy of change: strategy only succeeds when people can make sense of it together. Howard and his team are known for helping leadership and project teams align purpose, decision-making, and accountability across the often-siloed worlds of faculty, administration, and governance. His work focuses on creating the conditions where teams can think and act decisively.

With more than 35 years of experience in education consulting, Howard is also the host of the Navigating Change podcast, where he convenes national voices to explore leadership, organizational culture, and innovation in higher education. His contributions to the book Redesigning Higher Education: Systemic Integration and Cluster Based Learning reflect his commitment to strategy as a lived practice.

Through Teibel Education, Howard provides consulting, coaching, and leadership development services to institutions including Brown University, Rutgers University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Rhode Island, University of Colorado, and University of California to name a few. Teibel also partners with the Chronicle of Higher Education to deliver a national leadership program designed to help academic and administrative leaders navigate today’s most pressing challenges.

A sought-after keynote speaker and facilitator, Howard engages audiences across the country with talks that challenge conventional leadership and offer grounded, human-centered approaches for building trust in times of uncertainty, disruption, and institutional change.

Howard’s approach is deeply informed by decades of study in organizational learning and leadership, including work with Dr. Fernando Flores, Edgar Schein, and the transformational practices of the Hoffman Institute. He is a co-founder of Fathers Forever, a support organization for fathers who have experienced the death of a child, and has served with his wife on the board of the Massachusetts SIDS Center. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Chautauqua Institution.
