Tom Fikes•Senior Consultant and Coach

Tom Fikes is a coach and senior consultant with Teibel Education, and director of research and senior research scientist for the Action Lab at Arizona State University’s EdPlus group. Tom brings over 25 years of experience in higher education, having served as professor of psychology and neuroscience and a faculty and administrative leader. His research in cognitive and social neuroscience as well as his applied work in student learning and success informs his view of the world and leadership.

Tom received his PhD in Human Information Processing from UC Santa Barbara and did postdoctoral work in the Cognitive Science program at Indiana University before serving on faculty at University of Puget Sound and Westmont College. In 2015, he began work at ASU to launch the Action Lab, a research unit dedicated to increasing engagement, learning, persistence, and success in diverse learner populations, and to establishing data-informed practices that increase equity, inclusion, and student success in higher education generally.
