AGB National Conference on Trusteeship — Preconference Workshop: Institutionalizing Change

Trustees understand that business as usual is no longer an option in higher education. Change is a given. Boards are struggling with how to get started in change initiatives and what questions to ask to shape the process. Utilizing the expertise of a change-management expert in higher education and the experience of board and institutional leaders, this workshop will address questions such as: how does culture impact our ability to institutionalize change efforts? How do we help individuals and the institution deal with brutal facts while creating a positive vision for change? What are strategies to create a top-down and bottom-up approach that engages all levels of an institution to be part of the change process? Howard Teibel will lead this workshop and provide tangible strategies and tools for board and institutional leaders to bring back to their campuses.

Howard and Pete Wright recently sat down with AGB President Rick Legon to discuss the conference. Rick shares his keen insights into the challenges facing board leadership in today's institutions. Listen to Navigating Change episode 86 below.
